The ‘Healthy Adult’

What Is the Healthy Adult Mode?

Schema therapy aims to help people 'build' the 'healthy adult' mode - So what does this look like exactly?

- The healthy adult displays maturity and discipline in conflict and times of crisis

- The healthy adult posseses sound judgment in making decisions, responsibility in relationships,
and good self-care.
- The healthy adult has more independence and is less reactive.

- The healthy adult models boundaries and sets limits within relationships

- The healthy adult is kind and compassionate to self

- The healthy adult is mindful, lives in the moment

Basically any behaviour that 'works' for us, and enables us to have a healthy relationship with ourselves and others.
